Dominique Wilkins one tall dude. But what makes the NBA Basketball legend a true giant is his commitment to raising awareness about diabetes. At the recent Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes sponsored by the American Diabetes Association - Wilkins shared that he's been living with diabetes for 14 years. It's a disease that took his father and grandfather and he is determined to make sure that doesn't happen to the thousands of people who are at risk of dying from diabetes. Did you know that in the next 24 hours 200 people will die from the disease. Last year our radio family lost two legends to complications from diabetes WDAS FM's Joe "Butter" Tamburro and former Power 99 FM air personality Brian Carter from the Carter and Sanborn Show. Type 2 diabetes responds to diet and exercise. Check out my video on the Step Up to Stop Diabetes Walk and find out more about diabetes at diabetes.org.
