Will Philadelphia Schools start on time and what will students face when they start classes? Donna Cooper, Executive Director of Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) paints a stark picture. She says new parents will have trouble registering their kids with only one secretary assigned to a building. Students will walk into classrooms that are too large and they can forget about art and music and we’re just talking about elementary school.
Philadelphia public schools are facing a crisis - truly unprecedented. Superintendent William Hite warns schools won’t be safe to open if Governor Corbett doesn’t release at least 50 million dollars by August 16th. Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and PCCY teamed up for a special digital town hall last week and you can see what a group of passionate, committed activists have to say about what’s happening with the schools and what you can do about it.
