During a recent interview T.I. revealed that Will Smith went above and beyond to try to help him while he was in jail. Smith contacted politicians and lawmakers in an effort to get Tip an early release. T.I. said, "Will actually went as far as getting in touch with [attorney general] Eric Holder and the Obama administration trying to see if we could get some kind of release. He was very politely told that was not possible". At the time T.I. was in jail for drug and gun charges.
