Lifetime saw a surge in its ratings thanks to the televised remake of the 1989 film Steel Magnolias. The remake stars Afre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad and Queen Latifah. Supporting roles were played by Jill Scott, Rashad's daughter- Condola Rashad and Lance Gross. 6.5 million people tuned in to watch, making the film Lifetime's third most watched telecast ever.
