Accroding to a police report, Kansas Chiefs linebacker had texted his "secret girlfriend" that he "would shoot" his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins "if she didn't leave him alone." The girlfriend thought he was joking according to the police report. The police interviewed Jovan's mother Cheryl Shepherd who was at the home at the time Jovan shot and killed Perkins, moved in to their home two weeks before their deaths because of the couple's "relationship problems due to financial issues associated with Perkins' spending habits."
