Nothing is ever simple with the Los Angeles Lakers! After the firing of head coach Mike Brown last Friday, Lakers enthusiasts were chanting the name "Phil Jackson" to be the new head coach. It makes sense due to his success with the Lakers and his reputation of making NBA superstars work well in his triangle offense. Well that's all a dream because the Lakers have hired former coach of the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks Mike D'Antoni. ESPN is reporting that this news "stunned" Phil Jackson who was prepared to come out of retirement and join the Lakers and was waiting for negotiations to begin. The Lakers brass was unanimous with D'Antoni because they felt the Lakers wouldn't thrive under the triangle offense and D'Antoni's fast paced system would work better for Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Kobe Bryant says of the hiring "I love PJ but I'm very excited about D'Antoni!" Stay tuned for more on this story.
