Last night’s BET Awards had everyone awaiting one performance: The Whitney Houston tribute and BET didn’t disappoint. Songstress Mariah Carey began the tribute by speaking about her dear friend while fighting back tears. After Carey’s touching verbal tribute, Monica sang “I Love the Lord”, which Houston sang for “The Preacher’s Wife” soundtrack. Brandy then took over and brought the live and at home audience members some upbeat comfort with Houston’s “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. The “It All Belongs to Me” singers had amazing performances, which surely made Whitney proud. In addition to Mariah, Monica, and Brandy, the cast of “Waiting to Exhale”, Houston’s brother Gary, and her mother Cissy paid tribute to the fallen icon.
