Tell us how you got your start as a DJ in the business & do you have an open lane to break new talent up at Power 99FM?

I got my start from my PD at the time who was looking for a female DJ.  My family knew Cosmic Kev who is one of the bigger mixers out here in Philly.  Cosmic Kev and his partner were like “do you want to do radio”?  At the time, I really wasn’t thinking about it but I was like hey why not?  I was like “yeah…let’s give it a shot”.  Kev coached me and taught me all the little tricks for radio and all the information I needed to know to get it poppin’ on the radio.  I did that and that’s how I moved into radio.  As far as freedom to break new artists, of course!  That’s the thing I like about Power 99FM.  There are no controlled playlists because they trust our ears.  So if there’s a song or an artist that I really like, I’m gonna play it and go all the way in!
