Not many people had a bigger year in entertainment than Pharrell Williams in 2013. The 40-year-old producer/rapper/singer/songwriter/fashion designer was everywhere this year, from award shows, covering magazines, hits all over the charts, scoring music for movies, and many business ventures outside of music. Pharrell composed the soundtrack to the movie Despicable Me and he has worked with almost nearly everyone in the industry from Miley Cyrus, Frank Ocean, Daft Punk, T.I., Solange Knowles, Mac Miller, Robin Thicke, Kanye West. Pharrell appeared alongside T.I. on Robin Thicke's hit single "Blurred Lines". The song has been a worldwide hit, has peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Pharrell's third Billboard Hot 100 number one single. Plus Pharrell released the first 24-hour music video to his Despicable Me 2 collaboration song, "Happy". With all of these accomplishments in 2013, GQ recognized Pharrell as one of their 5 people selected for the “Man of the Year” cover, which is well deserved.
Nas is being sued by a concert promoter who was kidnapped in Africa over a bad deal. Patrick Allocco had promised Angolan promoters he would get Nas to perform for a New Year's Eve concert in 2011 and everything was a done deal and Nas was paid in advance, $300,000. But when it was the night of the show, Nas couldn't be found. And that's when the Angolan promoters decided to kidnap Patrick until they were paid back their money. Nas eventually paid the money back and things were finally looking good. Well I guess not because Patrick still wants revenge. He recently filed a $10 million lawsuit against Nas because of the pain and suffering he had to endure. Nas claims Patrick knew what he was getting himself into, plus he claims there wasn't enough security provided, they fumbled their plane tickets, and was paid the $300k advance late.
