According to USA Today, Byron Scott has taken the offer of becoming a part of the Los Angeles Lakers as the head coach.

Moreover, the Lakers have been longing for a coach since Mike D’Antoni resigned at the end of April. Also, Scott interviewed for the job three times, but the organization prioritized the draft and free agency over hiring a coach.

Furthermore, former Lakers star won three titles playing next to Magic Johnson and received a key endorsement from Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

"I think the Kobe relationship is going to play a big part," Scott told USA TODAY Sports about the coaching search in late May. "Again, I think I've got a hand up on (the job) because of our relationship. We get along extremely well. Kobe knows all about me and what I'm about...So to me, it's going to be fun."
