George Floyd Statue Vandalized A Day After Unveiling

People will always have hate in their hearts. An artist took some time and created some beautiful statues for an exhibit in New York's Union Square called "#SeeInjustice." The exhibit features statues of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and John Lewis. According to TMZ, the Union Square installation has the three pieces that each stand at 6 feet tall. They're made from layers of African mahogany plywood and then finished with bronze paint. The exhibition is the brainchild of Confront Art, and is the organization's first installation. They were unveiled on Friday, but unfortunately, a day later, someone decided to vandalize one of the statues. Thankfully, there was some video surveillance that caught the vandalism in the act, when a male was seen mixing something while ducking behind the John Lewis statue. Apparently, the man hopped on a skateboard and past the George Floyd statue when he threw what looked to be paint at the statue. Currently, the NYPD is investigating the vandalism. According to ABC 7 New York, the pieces will were to stay through October 30 and then travel to different cities all over the country. Ultimately, they'll be auctioned off with proceeds going to charities linked to all three people.
