Nina Simone's Granddaughter Says Kamala Harris 'Bullied' Her Mother

  • Nina Simone’s granddaughter, ReAnna Simone Kelly, is accusing Vice President Kamala Harris of “bullying” her mother, Lisa Simone, while Harris was attorney general of California.
  • Harris, who supervised charitable trusts in California at the time, was named several times in the 2016 settlement regarding the Nina Simone Charitable Trust.
  • The settlement accuses Simone’s daughter, Lisa, of diverting funds from the estate in the amount of $5,937,749.42 plus over $2.5 million in interest, which Harris contended was more than half of the estate’s value.
  • ReAnna tweeted that people should ask questions of Harris regarding why,“her grandmother's estate is in SHAMBLES now,”or“why she bullied my mother in court and my mom almost killed herself from the depression."
  • ReAnna also mentioned that her mother’s name had been slandered by Harris and she mentioned the hypocrisy of Harris using her grandmother’s song, “Feeling Good” during the 2021 inauguration.
