Founding Member of The Roots, Malik B, Has Died

Philly has lost one of the original founders of The Roots. The Roots has given us a different style of music, becoming the only rap band around. But on Wednesday, one of it's co-founders died. Malik B, who helped Questlove and Black Thought start the group, died at the age of 47. He distanced himself from the group in the 2000's, but he is still remembered by the members. Details of his death have not been revealed, but The Roots announced his passing on social media. Black Thought issued his own statement saying, "In friendly competition with you from day one, I always felt as if I possessed only a mere fraction of your true gift and potential. Your steel sharpened my steel as I watched you create cadences from the ether and set them free into the universe to become poetic law, making the English language your bitch."
