Congress Members Take a Knee to Honor George Floyd

While I love how everyone is trying to make change after the death of George Floyd, I wish that would have come sooner. But hey, it's a start right? While people are marching and honoring Floyd, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic members in Congress wanted to also honor George. According to The Daily News, before a press conference to unveil policing reform and equal justice legislation, House Speaker Pelosi led a group of more than 20 lawmakers in kneeling on the floor of the Capitol’s Emancipation Hall for eight minutes and 46 seconds as the names of victims of police brutality were read aloud. However, who told them to be extra. We get it, you want to acknowledge the struggles and oppression of black people, but they may have taken a step back when the members all wore Kente cloth sashes around their necks. Now come on. Who told them to go out and get matching sashes just to make a statement? We'd have appreciated the sentiment without the outfit accessories. But for real, it's good to know they acknowledge what's going on and were able to take a moment of silence to recognize those who have died by the hands of police.
